The tragic death of an 11-year-old Paulding County boy, Zander Whatley, has seen two suspects apprehended in a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community. 18-year-old Osman Sesay Jr. was arrested on May 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is awaiting extradition back to Georgia. On May 15, a second suspect, Nazier Lloyd Anderson, 19, turned himself into the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, as per a report by Atlanta News First.

The arrests follow the April 29 incident in which the victim was fatally shot inside his family home on Ruth Way during a late-night attack. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Zander's stepfather, William Dorsey, indicated that the act might have stemmed from a dispute involving one of Zander's older brothers. The family recounted hearing banging at their back door before the fatal shots rang out.

While two suspects are now in custody, the search continues for the third suspect, 19-year-old Al-Hamid Ibrahim Kuyateh, who remains at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to come forward using their mobile app or by calling the office directly.

Zander, a 5th grade student at Hutchens Elementary School, was remembered by his mother, Shareeda Dorsey, for his warm and loving nature. In an interview with Atlanta News First, she described his Sunday routine of watching church online and engaging in private worship. The young boy, who was also part of the student council, tragically died just days shy of his 12th birthday. Shareeda Dorsey continues to contact sheriff's detectives daily, as grievously documented by FOX 5 Atlanta, expressing relief at the arrests but emphasizing her determination to see justice fully served.
