Tragedy struck Vallejo, California, on the night of May 5, when a shooting in the 1300 block of North Camino Alto left one man dead. The Vallejo Police Department (VPD) received a call around 7:30 P.M. about the incident, according to their official Facebook page.
Upon arriving, VPD officers learned that the victim had already been rushed to a local hospital by a family member. Despite medical staff's efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his gunshot wounds. Amid the chaos, officers spotted a vehicle speeding away from the scene, which led to a high-speed chase after the driver, later identified as Clifton Chandler Jr., 38, of Vallejo, refused to stop. A firearm was discarded from the vehicle before it crashed and became disabled, enabling police to detain Chandler and a female passenger.
After taking over the case, the VPD Detective Division was quick to pin the shooting on Chandler. By May 8, the Solano County District Attorney's Office formally charged Clifton Chandler Jr. with murder, as evidenced by the investigation findings.
The department has issued a call for any additional information the public might have about the case. Detectives Bradley Phillips and William Carpenter are heading the ongoing investigation and can be contacted via email or phone by anyone looking to provide details. The VPD encourages community members to come forward as they seek closure for all parties affected by this heinous event.
For further media details or inquiries regarding the case, Sgt. Rashad Hollis, the Public Information Officer, will field questions via email or phone.
