Walnut Creek Man Arrested in Brentwood for Bank Fraud and Possessing Destructive DeviceSource: Brentwood police Department

Bank fraud in Brentwood led to the arrest of a Walnut Creek man after local officers responded to the scene of an unrelated welfare check. Reports from the City of Brentwood Police Department detail how the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Adam Lew, was nabbed with an array of dubious items, including fraudulent checks and an M80 firework.

The initial fraud report was received by the Brentwood police yesterday from a bank manager who claimed that a week prior, Lew had cashed a bogus $2,000 check. The eagle-eyed manager supplied a photo of Lew, sealing his fate. According to the police department's social media post, the bank's tip came in handy a few hours later when Lew was spotted, as fate would have it, sitting in his car on the 4500 block of Balfour Road.

Belongings in Lew's possession at the time of his arrest pointed to various infractions. Authorities found not just the fraudulent checks but also an assortment of debit and credit cards bearing names other than his own. Including the M80 firework, classified as a destructive device, added to the gravity of the charges against him.

Following his arrest, Lew faced multiple charges, including passing a fraudulent check, possessing stolen debit and credit cards, possessing a destructive device, and identity theft. He was swiftly whisked away to the Martinez Detention Facility for booking.
