A Travis County home went up in flames late Tuesday night, following a lightning strike, authorities said. The fire, which occurred in the West Travis County neighborhood of the Hollows subdivision, was reported after the homeowner detected the smell of smoke at around 11:30 p.m., as per FOX 7 Austin.
Responders from Travis County Emergency Services District No. 1 arrived to find the residence ablaze, the fire had spread to challenging areas between floors complicating the firefighting efforts, and the team battled through the night to control the conflagration in the household located off Lake Travis. According to KXAN, the homeowner had called 9-1-1 to report the lightning incident before the fire was detected.
No casualties were reported from the incident, a small mercy in what was otherwise a calamitous event for the owners of the charred property. Crews worked diligently to extinguish the fire which proved more stubborn as it nestled between the architectural layers of the home.
