A New Hampshire woman tragically lost her life in a lawnmower accident over the weekend in Winchester, authorities reported. The incident unfolded on Burt Hill Road when, for reasons yet unclear, the victim's lawnmower toppled over an embankment and flipped, leading to fatal consequences.
Winchester Police Chief David Rice confirmed the woman, who was in her 60s, was found dead by responding officers after they received a distress call shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday. "Apparently, for some unknown reason, the lawnmower went over an embankment and rolled over," Rice said in a statement obtained by Boston25News.
The identity of the woman has been withheld pending notification of her family, according to authorities. The deceased was believed to be the owner of the property where she was discovered. As of today, investigators were still piecing together the details of the incident, which occurred with no witnesses present.
A family member discovered the woman and dialed 911; the first officer to arrive at the scene pronounced her dead. "A coroner was set to investigate the circumstances that led to her death," Rice noted, according to NBC Boston, though he mentioned the incident appeared accidental or medical in nature. Police in coordination with the coroner's office, are working to determine the exact cause of the woman's death.
