Get ready for some fresh blacktop, Wright County nature lovers. Starting next week, the county's seal coating and fog seal program will be giving a facelift to several parks and trails throughout the area. The schedule, which is somewhat at the mercy of Mother Nature, is set to run from May 20-24, as reported by the county's official alert system. Expect to see crews working hard on upgrades to keep your local green spaces looking sharp.
In the lineup for a bit of TLC are Clearwater-Pleasant Park, Schroeder Park, Montissippi Park, Beebe Lake Park, and Collinwood Park, not to forget some trails near CSAH 12 and CSAH 17, each one with its special treatment of either fog sealing or chip sealing or both and while these maintenance moves are necessary park hoppers should brace themselves for some interruptions ranging from the blink-and-you'll-miss-it to the grab-a-coffee-and-wait variety.
According to details posted on Wright County's CivicAlerts, the project plan includes fog-sealing the entire trail system at Clearwater-Pleasant Park. Schroeder Park's parking lot will be chip sealed, and its access road fog sealed, whereas Montissippi Park will see its trails and road getting the fog and chip sealing treatment, respectively. Beebe Lake Park users will notice freshly sealed trails from the parking lot to CSAH 34, and Collinwood Park is poised for an overall upgrade with both its access roads and parking lots getting chip sealed and camper areas getting the fog seal finish.
While the parks department isn't playing favorites – the order of the updates will really come down to how the weather plays out – they're crossing fingers and toes with the hope that the entire job will be done and dusted by Friday, May 24, which is perfect timing for anyone planning a Memorial Day jaunt into the great outdoors; just remember that this is an optimistic timeline and flexibility is the name of the game when working against the whims of the weather gods.
