
A tragic event unfolded in Griffin, Georgia, where a 15-year-old boy's life was cut short by gunfire. The Griffin Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on the 1100 block of W. Poplar Street around 10:30 p.m. on June 5. The officers discovered the 15-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound, as reported by WSB-TV.
Following the initial medical response at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital, the injured teen was transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries. While the name of the victim has been withheld, a suspect has entered the frame of this bleak narrative, a 16-year-old, who the police arrested and are charging as an adult, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
The standing charges against the arrested teen include felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Details surrounding the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain sparse, and the 16-year-old’s name has similarly not been released, in line with legal proceedings concerning juvenile suspects.
