For anyone spending time outside, the bigger concern will be the repeated stretch of afternoon heat rather than rain. The weather service notes that heat-index values could reach triple digits in parts of the broader forecast area later in the week, while overnight lows in the mid-70s may offer limited relief.
Storm Chances Return Late Week
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Thursday after 2 p.m., though the chance of rain remains around 20% and most of the day should stay sunny. Friday brings a similar setup, with a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms and a high near 94.
Saturday could reach 95 degrees, with a slight chance of showers in the morning followed by a better chance of afternoon storms. Sunday looks a little less hot at 91 degrees, but rain and thunderstorm chances rise again, reaching roughly 30% to 40% during the day.
