Early Thursday morning, a man was fatally shot in Northeast, triggering a quick response from the Metropolitan Police Department. Officials reported to the scene in the 4400 block of Hunt Place, Northeast, after a shooting was reported at approximately 3:21 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound in the roadway, where he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The victim was later identified by authorities as Marcellus Jackson, a 21-year-old resident of Northeast. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, an arrest was made on the same day of the shooting.
Antonio Johnson, a 32-year-old man of no fixed address, was apprehended and subsequently charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in connection to the fatal incident. The arrest followed what the MPD described as the detectives’ extensive investigation into the case.
