The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Smith, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office. Homicide investigators have charged Michael Moody, 22, in connection with the death of Smith. Moody was arrested at his residence on June 5th on an unrelated charge and is now booked into the Harris County Jail.

Initial reports about the tragic discovery of Smith's body emerged after investigators arrived on the scene, where the victim was found with a gunshot wound on the sidewalk. The incident was first reported in a post by the Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez on June 6th. In their investigation, authorities have determined that the motive behind the shooting was robbery.
