The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced that the 36th Avenue bridge over Highway 169 is slated for replacement, with a scheduled closure commencing this Thursday, June 6. According to MnDOT's bulletin, both the bridge and the entrance and exit ramps will be out of commission until October, as crews work to demolish and reconstruct this critical piece of infrastructure.
Plan to take a detour if you're hitting the road next weekend. To make way for the bridge to safely come down, Highway 169 will be off-limits in both directions from I-394 to I-94. This full closure is scheduled to start Friday, June 7 at 10 p.m. and will continue until the early hours of Monday, June 10, at 5 a.m. MnDOT advises northbound motorists to quickly take I-394 to I-494 to I-94, while southbound traffic is rerouted via I-94 to I-494 and then I-394.
