According to the City of Arlington, Texas, this overhaul aims to up its game in amenities and ensure that facilities are top-notch for its patrons. Highlighting the need for this upgrade is the center's high traffic—hosting bustling events with 200 to 400 racket-wielding enthusiasts on a regular.
The key play in this renovation match is the expansion of the men’s and women’s restrooms. Improvements are set to include a score of modern touches such as baby changing stations, up-to-date shower units, oh, and a new lavatory complete with a full-width mirror and purse ledge for the women's side. Meanwhile, the men will see an increase to four urinals and four toilets ramping up from their previous numbers. Every detail, from new flooring to updated storage and merchandise setups in the Pro Shop, is being addressed. The project also serves as an ace with an HVAC system refresh, a trim on exterior aesthetics, and an update to the sanitary sewer system—a necessary yet unglamorous part of any infrastructure revamp.
Service disruption is a no-go as the renovation began in May, with regular tennis and pickleball court operations continuing to bounce along uninterrupted. A provisional setup is covering the clubhouse operations and providing temporary public restrooms for the facility's enthusiastic clientele—a proper lob to keep the convenience in play.
The City's cross-court partnership with Morales Construction Services, Inc., an MWBE firm from Mansfield, and LBL Architects, Inc., of Arlington, is the doubles team behind this renovation. The former was brought to the court in March 2024 and the latter in June 2023, they're committed to meeting the 18.26% goal for MWBE participation per the goalpost set by the City’s Office of Business Diversity. "The Arlington Tennis Center is undergoing a $1.1 million clubhouse renovation and restroom expansion to better serve its patrons," the City of Arlington, Texas said, detailing the planned improvements.
