These community favorites, which include a caché of whimsical waterworks, kicked off their summer season Memorial Day weekend and will continue daily operations from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through to Labor Day.
Available for every tyke's pleasure, Arlington presents a variety of aquatic amusements ranging from palm trees that spew water to jets that leap from the ground. After Labor Day, when the dog days wane, Arlington's splash pads scale back, catering to weekend crowds through the twilight of September. A neighborhood darling is the Don Misenhimer Park Splash Pad, located at 201 E Lonesome Dove Trail. Touted for younger children, it features a dolphin fountain, a palm tree that sprays water, and, not to be taken lightly, jets propelling water as high as ten feet. The City of Arlington, Texas detailed that the park also boasts facilities such as a basketball court, pavilion, two playgrounds, a practice field, and crucial for the little ones, public restrooms.
The Brantley Hinshaw Park Splash Pad at 2121 Overbrook Drive is equally appealing, with a spray ground featuring a spiraling tunnel and a generous amount of ground jets. Decidedly family-friendly, the park also houses a basketball court, practice fields, a picnic area, and two playgrounds—one could say the park has something for everyone, truly.
Then there's the California Lane Park Splash Pad at 2001 California Lane. Embraced by kids who love to dash through the spinning water station and get misted by ground jets, this splash pad also features a spray tunnel and arch. Other amenities include a pavilion, practice fields, and basketball courts – engineered for both relaxation and lively play. Rounding out the quartet is the splash pad at the Beacon Recreation Center, which creatively engages children with its water maze. Available to members or for a day pass fee of $8, this aquatic wonderland located at 1100 Mansfield Webb Road continues to enchant until October, weather permitting.
