An Athens-based company, Integrity Foods Inc., finds itself grappling with allegations that a former employee has committed a financial crime by embezzling more than $3 million over the span of six years. This claim has fostered a police investigation, which was initiated subsequent to the filing of a complaint on May 22, as was reported by the Athens Banner-Herald.
Integrity Foods Inc., recognized for their operations in processing and delivering chicken products, has revealed the accused individual allegedly created falsified records, which were used to surreptitiously direct company funds to bank accounts they controlled. It has emerged from the ongoing investigation that the implicated employee, whose identity remains undisclosed, seized the financial assets by methodically forging checks ostensibly for former employees. These were discovered to instead route into accounts under the suspect's dominion, a tangled web of deceit that led to their termination when revealed.
According to details from an FOX 5 Atlanta report, the company took action by intensifying their monitoring of payroll activities. This vigilant oversight swiftly precipitated the firing of the employee in question. Subsequently, Integrity Foods Inc. has extended their cooperation with law enforcement by furnishing relevant documentation of the transactions and the fabricated employee records.
The extent of the monetary deception may yet reveal to be more substantial, as company officials are probing the possibility that the embezzlement might extend beyond the six-year period currently known. Though no arrest has been formally made, the investigation is progressing under the guidance of Athens-Clarke police Detective Blake Manning. Detective Manning remains actively engaged in the case and can be reached for any information that might aid the investigation.
