An Athens man has been charged with multiple counts following an altercation and shooting on Hickman Drive last week, as reported by the local authorities. FOX 5 Atlanta shares details of the incident which occurred around 1:49 p.m. on June 14, 2024, where police responded to what was initially a report of a fight. Upon their arrival, they discovered a woman with multiple head abrasions consistent with being struck with a pistol.
Tysean Davis, 27, was identified by the Athens-Clarke County Police as the perpetrator of the assault on the woman. It was during this investigation that officers located Davis with a gunshot wound. The charge sheet against Davis includes two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and battery, following treatment at a local hospital and subsequent incarceration at Clarke County Jail. Meanwhile, Byron Smith, another local resident and the alleged shooter, managed to quickly flee the scene before the authorities arrived.
According to an interview with ACCPD Lt. Jody Thompson cited by Now Habersham, witnesses identified the 28-year-old Smith as the shooter. Lt. Thompson elaborated on the charges against Smith, who is still on the run, stating that he also faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
