Residents of Atlanta can expect a mixed bag of weather in the coming days, with chances of showers and thunderstorms peppered throughout the forecast. According to the National Weather Service, today there's a 30 percent chance of rain, mostly after 1 pm, under partly sunny skies with a high near 86 degrees. The wind from the southwest could pick up, gusting as high as 15 mph.

For those planning evening activities, the likelihood of precipitation increases to a 50 percent chance, and it remains mostly cloudy as temperatures dip to around 70 degrees. Southwest winds will continue, but gusts could reach up to 15 mph. The expected new rainfall amounts range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, "except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms," the forecast notes.

Thursday will mirror today's conditions to an extent, with another 50 percent chance of showers and storms amid partly sunny skies and comparable temperatures. Westerly winds will also persist, similarly gusting to around 20 mph. As the week progresses, the forecast suggests an easing of stormy patterns with mostly clear skies expected Thursday night and a sunny Friday with a high nearing 85 degrees.

As we roll into the weekend, Atlanta is greeted with sunshine and temperatures peaking at 87 degrees on Saturday. However, following a partly cloudy Saturday night, the possibility of showers and thunderstorms slides back into the picture with a 30 percent chance on Sunday. Sunday night also brings a 40 percent chance of precipitation, and it appears "mostly cloudy, with a low around 67," the service reports.

Looking ahead to next week, the sporadic showers persist on Monday and Tuesday, both days offering a 40 percent and 20 percent chance respectively for thunderstorms. While rain might be on the horizon, no significant dip in temperature is expected, with highs maintaining in the mid-80s.
