The centerpiece of this celebration is AUS's Chief Development Officer, Shane Harbinson, who, having been present from the airport's embryonic stage, brings a storied perspective to its unabated growth.
Harbinson, in an account given to the City of Austin's blog, reminisces about his ascent from his initial role in 1999 as an Airport Operations Coordinator to spearheading Planning and Development. "The infrastructure capacity was a constraint with what the demands are, what airlines needs are and, all the other components of the airport," Harbinson said.
