A violent confrontation unfolded in downtown Austin, leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Brandon Anthony Donald on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly shooting another man multiple times. According to FOX 7 Austin, police responded to reports of gunfire near 8th Street and Trinity on June 14 around 9:45 p.m. and found the suspect standing over the wounded victim, Chris Janner.

Initial investigations revealed that Janner suffered several gunshot wounds to his chest and legs and was quickly rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. While being taken into custody at the scene, officers noted that Donald had an interview where he claimed self-defense, asserting the victim hurled homophobic slurs at him prior to the altercation, as reported by CBS Austin.

Donald, facing a second-degree felony charge, is currently being held in the Travis with a set County Jail at a $150,000 bond.
