
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a tragic incident unfolded at 10613 Macmora Rd., where the Austin Police Department responded to a distressing scene that left a woman dead and a man, later identified as the assailant, deceased from a self-inflicted wound.
According to a statement from the Austin Police Department, officers arrived at the location following a cryptic phone call from a man claiming his wife was in the bedroom while he was outside; the police discovered Suzanne Bailey, a 58-year-old white female, inside the residence with a fatal gunshot wound to the head and Joshua Lockwood, a 53-year-old white male, in the backyard also with a gunshot wound to his head, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigative efforts by homicide detectives and crime scene specialists have pieced together an account of the night's events, revealing that Ms. Bailey was shot by her husband, Mr. Lockwood, who then proceeded to end his own life, Austin-Travis County EMS transported Bailey to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, sadly, she succumbed to her injuries at 9:10 a.m.
APD is treating this case as the city's 26th homicide in 2024 and urges anyone with information related to this incident to come forward, offering a possible $1,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest, and contact details were provided pointing the public towards the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program for submitting information that could be crucial to the case.
