In the quiet hours of a recent May 5th graveyard shift, a Washington County Sheriff's Deputy, William Armstrong, responded to a distressing scene within the Aloha community. According to a report by KGW, the officer discovered a particularly disconsolate mixed-breed female dog named Dice, who was found suffering and uncomfortable, her body marred by cuts and lacerations on her snout, head, and neck, and her whiskers burned.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Dice's previous owner had passed on the battered canine to the individual who, uninterested in caretaking, contacted the authorities. After Dice was officially relinquished to Deputy Armstrong and his peers, immediate medical attention was sought to rectify the worst of her physical wounds, KGW reported, she was then thrust into the center of an animal abuse investigation. The caller’s disinterest in ownership, however, opened the path for something more akin to redemption for the beleaguered pooch.
The dog's previous original owner, identified by the authorities as Brandon Ash, 41, of Beaverton, now faces serious charges in connection with her treatment. Specifically, as ABC 3340 detailed, Ash is charged with animal abuse in the first degree, animal neglect in the first degree, and animal neglect in the second degree. This emergence of justice serves as a stark contrast to the dog's prior plight.
However, this narrative harbors a gentler turn, for Deputy Armstrong, it seems, was charmed by the dog during the course of the investigation. Further reported by ABC 3340, Armstrong completed the necessary procedures to adopt Dice, granting her a new lease on life, and a new name to match it – Trilly, short for trillium.
