As reported, Highland Community Center's devoted staff - Kim Indurkar, Mary Boyle, and Jennifer Brown - have been honored with the Ron C. Davis II Unsung Hero Award. The trio has been celebrated for their unwavering commitment to inclusivity, providing recreational services designed to bridge barriers for individuals with disabilities. According to the City of Bellevue's official news release, Highland Community Center serves as a beacon for both intellectual and physical accessibility, offering a variety of activities ranging from sports to cultural arts.
Meanwhile, Colin Walker, the marketing manager for Parks & Community Services, also managed to snag a Citation of Merit – Professional Award for his significant achievements in the realm of parks and recreation. Walker has led the charge of effectively developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy, which includes managing many facets such as program brochures, social media campaigns, and customer feedback initiatives.
Another career milestone award was presented to Michael Shiosaki, the Parks & Community Services Director, who received the WRPA's pinnacle honor, the Impact and Influence award. This recognition celebrates Shiosaki's 35-year tenure, characterized by persistent dedication and achievements shaping Washington State's parks and recreation landscape.
