The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is actively calling on the community for assistance in tracking down a suspect connected to a fatal hit-and-run event that tragicly took the life of Raul Pena on June 3rd on the west side of town. According to KENS 5, Pena was walking with his son when a black pickup truck struck him along Dove Canyon access road at Loop 1604; deputies say he managed to save his son by moving him out of the vehicle's path.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark Toyota Tacoma with distinctive damage, including a wrinkled hood and missing or damaged plastic on the passenger side of the grill, the letters "t" and "o" from the Toyota emblem are missing as well, leaving a partial "y-o-t-a" visible, and the Sheriff's office is hopeful that someone in the locality may have seen the truck, especially since security cameras captured it making turns onto Marbach Road followed by Pue Road, which points to a travel pattern that might spark a memory in someone's mind, someone's conscience.

Residents of Falcon Wolf, Big Wolf Creek, Pue Road, Sunset Place, or Lynwood Village gated community spaces are being urged to keep vigilance for the damaged vehicle and report any sighting to authorities. In a statement relayed by News 4 San Antonio, the Sheriff's Office disclosed that the truck's last known movements were captured on security footage.

Members of the community who might have any information regarding the black Toyota Tacoma or the suspect are urged to contact the BCSO at (210) 335-6000; the sheriff's department reassures that informants can remain anonymous, so there should be no hesitancy borne of fear of reprisal, but an understanding that coming forward could be pivotal in serving the threads of justice for a grieving family.
