The search for a man who vanished into the currents of the Salt River on Memorial Day came to a grim conclusion Saturday, as recovery teams found the body of Jason Davis. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, tubers in the area first spotted the body near Pebble Beach, a popular entry point for river tubing enthusiasts—at approximately 2:15 p.m., FOX 10 Phoenix reported.
Davis had been missing since May 27, last seen around 5:30 p.m., before he was presumed to have drowned in the river, his disappearance sparked an intense search which was conducted daily on foot, by water and air because the authorities did not relent in their efforts to uncover the fate of the missing man, despite their aforementioned odds. ABC15 highlighted that it was ultimately civilians, not the deputies, who made the sad discovery this weekend.
The sheriff's office has since stated that no signs of foul play were observed. While a full investigation is standard procedure in such cases, the initial findings seem to indicate a tragic accident rather than a criminal act.
