A grim scene unfolded in Bonney Lake this past weekend when a dispute between roommates turned deadly. On June 8, at approximately 7:20 pm, Pierce County deputies rushed to the scene of a reported shooting on the 11100 block of 166th Ave. E., as detailed in an update from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department Blotter. When deputies arrived, they encountered one victim who had already sustained a gunshot wound.

After being notified of another victim inside the home, authorities promptly detained the suspect, who, by then, had relinquished his firearm. Inside, deputies discovered a 23-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving attempts, the young man was declared deceased at the scene. The second victim, a 24-year-old man, was found with a non-life-threatening injury and was not a resident of the house, the report from the Sheriff's Department Blotter detailed.

According to the initial reports, an argument had escalated to violence, leading to the suspect shooting his roommate. The 22-year-old suspect, who also suffered a graze wound during the altercation, received medical attention and will be facing a second-degree murder charge after being cleared by the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of kin. As for the suspect, who's identity has yet to be disclosed, he is set to be booked into the Pierce County Jail once medically evaluated.
