Fists flew and sirens blared in Dorchester Friday night when Boston police arrested a man on gun and drug charges following a brawl. William White, 42, of Dorchester, was nabbed by cops after a reported fight on Blue Hill Avenue drew their attention at around 11:15 PM, as per the Boston Police Department’s website.
Police arriving at the chaotic scene were tipped off by someone yelling at White to get out of the area because he had a gun. Officers didn't hesitate to quickly exit their vehicle and confront White. They tried to calmly pat frisk him, but White wasn't having it, pushing the officers' hands away. The cops were able to ultimately detain White and soon found he was packing more than just heat, they pulled a firearm from his waistband, according to police reports.
The gun in question, a loaded J.A. Nine, had one round in the chamber ready to fire and twelve more stashed in the magazine. During the takedown, officers also discovered White was concealing a plastic bag with about eight grams of crack cocaine. The streets of Dorchester, no stranger to the ravages of drugs and gun violence, caught a brief respite with this arrest.
White’s arrest was not without its scuffle, but Boston PD made sure to place him in custody and charge him with numerous offenses. He is facing counts for unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, not to mention the possession of a class B substance. White is expected to make his court appearance in Roxbury District Court.
