Last Friday night, a burglary in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood was brought to an abrupt end thanks to local law enforcement. The Boston Police Department reported that officers from District D-4 apprehended a 46-year-old Dorchester man named George Correa after a homeowner spotted him inside her Marlborough Street residence. According to a statement obtained by the Boston Police Department, the victim ran to a lower-level room out of fear while the suspect apparently made his exit via the rooftop deck.
The officers initially assessed where Correa might have fled to and began to methodically broaden their investigation to the neighboring buildings and streets. An open window at a nearby construction site led officers to discover a backpack matching the description provided by the homeowner. It was inside the backpack that officers later found personal effects and valuables belonging to the victim.
Law enforcement located Mr. Correa lying in some bushes on the same street. He had a screwdriver near him, and the victim positively identified him as the intruder. Not only did officers recover the stolen items, but they also found Correa in possession of what are believed to be oxycodone pills, a controlled substance.
The items were promptly returned to their rightful owner. Correa now faces multiple charges, including Breaking & Entering of a Building in the Nighttime to Commit a Felony, Larceny from a Building, and other drug-related offenses. The Boston Police Department emphasizes that the teamwork and quick response of the District D-4 officers led to successfully book to rapidly apprehend the suspect and return the stolen goods. Correa is expected to appear in Boston Municipal Court for his arraignment, as confirmed by authorities.
