In a recent incident that escalated quickly outside the Boston Police Department's District A-1 station, a woman now identified as Christine Ann Oliveira, was taken into custody after allegedly attacking police vehicles with bricks. Oliveira, a 46-year-old resident of Cambridge, is now facing multiple charges including vandalism and assault.
The events unfolded at approximately 1:13 pm on Friday, when local law enforcement was alerted to a person causing damage to parked cruisers near the station. Upon exiting the building, officers were confronted with Oliveira holding a brick. Despite being ordered to drop her improvised weapon, Oliveira initially refused, complying only after several commands, according to information from the official Boston Police Department's news blog.
Following her arrest, it became a chaotic scene as Oliveira reportedly became combative; kicking two officers who were part of the apprehending team. Inspection of the vicinity revealed that two unmarked police vehicles had sustained significant damage, showcasing smashed windows presumably from the earlier confrontation.
The charges laid against Oliveira are severe and encompass Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,200, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery, on a Police Officer.
