A 15-year-old boy tragically drowned after going underwater while swimming with friends at a lake in Cedar Park, prompting a major response from local authorities this past Saturday. The Cedar Park Police, alongside the Texas Game Wardens, launched an extensive search operation at the lake behind the Twin Lakes Family YMCA following reports of a missing swimmer, eventually deeming it a recovery effort.
After conducting a search for several hours, the teen's body was found later that same day, as reported by FOX 7 Austin. Cedar Park Police updated the public with the grim discovery. In a somber note, authorities mentioned that the young boy had been submerged in the water and was unable to be rescued in time, marking another drowning in what has become a too common occurrence on Texas lakes during the hot summer months.
Lt. Justin Miller of the Cedar Park Police Department expressed his condolences on the behalf of the force. "I want to take this opportunity to express our deepest sympathies to the family," Miller said. "This is a horribly tragic incident and we are doing everything we can with the family to provide support in this horrible incident," he explained, as stated in an article by KVUE.
