
A man in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood is facing attempted murder charges following a shooting that led to a SWAT team standoff on Sunday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 31-year-old Jeremy Stone was arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred in the 2100 block of East 71st Street around 1:16 P.M.
The altercation began when another 31-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by an individual later identified as Stone. The victim was subsequently transported in good condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Officers in the vicinity responded to the sound of gunfire and observed people fleeing into a building, prompting the involvement of SWAT and the detention of three individuals for questioning, the CBS Chicago report details.
Stone, who is due to appear in court on Tuesday following the shooting, was apprehended by the Chicago police about an hour after the shooting happened. The involvement of the SWAT officers helped to secure the area and ensure that those involved were taken in, to support the ongoing investigation.
