This team is tasked with the important job of reviewing and potentially refreshing two critical chapters of city code: Chapter 11, which concerns Fire Prevention, and Chapter 16, dedicated to Licenses and Business Regulation Codes. Amid growing concerns over safety and compliance in these industries, the committee's approval marks a proactive move toward ensuring that local regulations keep pace with the sectors' evolution.
Reflecting on the committee's decision, Councilwoman Castillo highlighted the impact of this development on community welfare, "I am grateful to see this policy request move to the next phase to appoint people to the committee to review the current code and develop tangible solutions," she said in a statement.
