A high-speed pursuit led to the arrest of a Clarksville man on Saturday after a series of events that began in Robertson County, involving a possibly stolen vehicle and resulting in two injured deputies. According to WSMV, the chase commenced around 4:45 p.m. at the Dollar General in Ridgetop when deputies tried to stop the suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Timothy Scott.
The incident rapidly escalated as Scott purportedly chose to quickly make an attempt to flee, striking two patrol vehicles in his haste. The altercation led to a crash on Interstate 65 near mile marker 97, which caused a prolonged shutdown of the highway. In a statement obtained by WKRN, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office relayed that Scott faces aggravated assault charges on a first responder.
Further details provided by Smokey Barn News elaborate on the chain of events, noting the suspect was cornered at one point on Bailey Street, which is a dead end, before continuing to I-65 where he was eventually apprehended. During the pursuit, the collision with the patrol vehicles resulted in non-critical injuries to two deputies, who were later transported to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
Beyond the aggravated assault charge, authorities are considering further charges against Scott. "Deputies are working with the District Attorney’s office on additional charges," the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office declared. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has taken up the investigation to fully understand the circumstances that led to the crash on I-65. Presently, the motivation behind Scott's flight and the status of the vehicle in question have yet to be publicly disclosed.
