A car theft operation came to a screeching halt in Cobb County with the arrest of three suspects, authorities said. The suspects were caught after an officer with the Cobb County Police Department responded to a stolen car report at Town Center at Cobb on April 20, as per FOX 5 Atlanta.
The chase ensued after a Flock camera alert put authorities on their tail the following day, with dashcam footage capturing the suspects bolting on foot upon spotting police at a local apartment complex; the suspects eluded capture initially but two were quickly apprehended, and the third was arrested by Kennesaw police roughly 25 minutes later—during the pursuit one officer, heard on his body cam, victoriously declared "I got him" after locating one of the men hiding in nearby woods, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
The BMW reported stolen was successfully recovered alongside a Mustang involved in the incident, and officials indicated that a plethora of drugs was discovered within the stolen BMW once the men were detained, according to a release from WSB-TV 2.
Law enforcement presence was amped up in the area following the vehicle thefts, leading to the timely interceptions of the suspects—one of whom was found to have a firearm on him—and while the charges against the trio remain unspecified, the accumulation of evidence including the stolen vehicles, firearms, and narcotics could foreshadow a hefty legal battle ahead; WSB-TV 2 has requested the identities and mugshots of the men involved in the heist.
