
The community of Cedar Springs, Michigan has come together in the search for 17-year-old Penelope "Penny" Wise who has been missing since May 31. Last seen near Morley Park around 6 p.m., authorities and her family have expressed growing concern due to her past mental health issues, hoodline reports.
Penelope Wise was captured on security footage wearing a pink tank top, shorts, and was possibly also wearing a flannel, on the evening she vanished. The surveillance video taken from near Rockford Park Drive, is being used by local law enforcement in their ongoing investigation. The Kent County Sheriff's Office has reiterated that while they do not suspect any foul play, they, are concerned about Wise's need for regular care. This information was detailed in a report by WZZM13.
In their efforts to locate Wise, the sheriff's department has deployed various resources including their Mounted Unit, Trail Patrol, and Drone Unit. "We've used everything we can resource-wise at the sheriff's office," Kent County Undersheriff Bryan Muir told WZZM13. The urgency of the situation has prompted the opening of a tip line, urging anyone with information to step forward, as pointed out in coverage by News Channel 3.
Wise is described as five feet tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blonde hair and braces—a description provided by the family in hope that it may aid in identifying her. Mishael Wise, Penny's mother, said in a statement obtained by WZZM13, "We want her to know that we love her, we care for her." Her father, David Wise, emphasized the need for community support by adding, "Any tip that you have, small, big, please send it in. We appreciate everything."
