Last week, a group of graduating seniors took a step to actively empower themselves by completing an 8-hour Women's Self Defense Class. The course is designed with the intent to equip women with the skills needed to not just defend themselves but also to recognize and avoid potential threats, as reported by the Coppell Police Department.
The course encourages its participants to adopt the "B.A.D.D" philosophy – Be a tough target, Attract Attention, Deny Privacy, Do Something. It focuses not only on the physical aspect of self-defense but also on mental awareness, preparing women to handle situations that threaten their safety. These graduating seniors were instructed to never have to apologize for their security, embracing a no-nonsense approach toward personal safety.
For those concerned their graduating seniors missed out, there is another opportunity on the horizon. The department has announced they are set to rehost the session in October, exclusively for those 17 and older. Interested individuals are encouraged to follow the Coppell Police Department’s social media channels for the upcoming class dates.
