Ready for a weekend filled with fun and sun, Dallas Park and Recreation is rolling out the welcome mat for the City Park Summer Fun Outdoor Festival this Saturday, June 8. The family-friendly event, taking place at City Park – better known to locals as Old City Park – promises a full day of activities and entertainment that caters to all ages. According to the City of Dallas, the festival will kick off the summer season in style.
Music enthusiasts and casual listeners alike can groove to the beats of a lineup featuring MacRoni, the Herbie Johnson Jazz Quartet, and the crowd-pleasing beats of Bombazo DFW. Adding to the mix, TeX and Guyz Nite Out, with a feature by Sean G, will deliver some sonic delight under the Texas sky. Celebrating with free tickets, festival attendees must simply scan the provided QR code to enjoy these performances.
Dallas foodies have much to look forward to as the event will showcase some of the city's favorite gastronomical offerings. Attendees can chomp on Fletchers Corn Dogs, pick up a plate from Breakfast Brothers, or flock to William's Chicken for a taste of comfort. Those with a sweet tooth can cool down with Kona Ice, while Odom's Barbecue and In-N-Out Burger are set to satisfy those craving some grilled delights.
For families attending with kids – or the young at heart – the festival will not disappoint. Boasting an array of carnival rides, alongside a game truck, water slides, and bounce houses, the entertainment options are bountiful. And for those who appreciate the blend of chrome and steel, a Car Show featuring members from the Chevrolet Corvette Club and DFW 3 Wheels Clubs will display their polished rides, eager to dazzle the automobile aficionados among us.
Amid the revelry, the festival also offers a chance to step back into Texas’ 19th century at City Park, spanning 20 acres of Victorian-era homes and commercial buildings. Here, history buffs and the casually curious can explore the heritage of Dallas’ very first city park nestled in the city's heart.
