As rain-swelled currents swept their vehicle down Flatrock Creek, the occupants found themselves precariously trapped yet managed to reach a dry spot, emergency personnel reported.
According to KXAN, the incident occurred near FM 2147 East and County Road 401 North. The area had become dangerously flooded due to recent rainfall. In a fortuitous turn of events, the occupants were able to escape their vehicle before it got caught in the grip of Flatrock Creek's rampage.
Utilizing the latest in search tech, a drone equipped with thermal imaging capabilities became the beacon of hope, locating the stranded group amidst the deluge. Burnet County ESD 9 (Spicewood Fire Rescue) shared on Facebook that this vital tech played a crucial role in directing rescue teams to the exact location of the distressed individuals.
Further assistance came from Travis County Star Flight, who through coordination with ground forces, airlifted the trapped occupants – delivering them safely to the outstretched hands of rescue crews waiting ashore.
