The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) is hosting a celebration for National Trails Day. The event will take place on the A-train Rail Trail, offering a morning full of activities for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike, starting at 9 a.m. and going until noon, according to the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA).
Festivities will be centered around the DCTA's Downtown Denton Transit Center, where participants can grab complimentary water, rail trail-friendly snacks, and a handy pocket guide to the trails. A DJ will be on-site to provide energetic beats, while a special Kid Zone, will offer games and face painting to entertain the younger crowd.
Visitors are encouraged to explore the 19-mile trail by foot, bicycle, or even inline skates. The well-mapped A-train Rail Trail is connected to numerous parks and offers an impressive look at Denton County's natural landscapes. DCTA also adds a dash of competition to the event with a photo scavenger hunt, promising prizes for those with a keen eye and a quick shutter.
Apart from local celebrations, National Trails Day is a coast-to-coast movement championed by the American Hiking Society.
