A Detroit man is currently facing charges after allegedly killing his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Jelani Ahmed Shakoor, 40, was arraigned on the charges of second-degree murder and weapons-related counts, including possessing a firearm as a felon, in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old Alicia Ferguson.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of June 17, when Shakoor and Ferguson got involved in an argument that tragically turned deadly. Shakoor is alleged to have shot Ferguson after their verbal altercation sharply escalated. He now potentially stands to serve a life sentence, as reported by WWJ Newsradio.
The shooting took place at an apartment complex located at the 2200 block of West Grand Boulevard. Upon their arrival at the scene, authorities found Ferguson with a life-threatening gunshot wound to her neck.
