A fatal incident occurred on the Southfield Freeway near Detroit, where a 35-year-old man was killed during a shooting, as reported by The Detroit News. The shooting took place last weekend, around 6 p.m. Saturday, on the freeway close to the intersection with Interstate 96.
Michigan State Police stated that the incident was first reported after dispatchers received calls about a shooting in the area, and when Detroit police arrived at the northbound exit ramp to I-96, they discovered the victim inside a vehicle where they attempted lifesaving measures until EMS arrived, a detail corroborated by WWJ Newsradio. The man was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital but was pronounced dead thereafter. The freeway's closure for the investigation by Michigan State Police spanned several hours, especially at Joy Road, where evidence was being searched for meticulously, this period of investigation resulted in an extensive search that also involved a canine unit that led to the recovery of multiple shell casings, as per FOX 2 Detroit.
