The city of Detroit is bracing for a mixed bag of weather conditions over the coming days. According to the 7-Day Weather Forecast, residents can expect sunny skies today with temperatures peaking at around 88 degrees and a gentle south breeze. The evening, however, may introduce showers after 2 a.m. with a low settling near 69 degrees and a slight chance of precipitation.
Tomorrow forewarns of a progressive escalation, starting with scattered showers before 11 am, then a window where both showers and thunderstorms are expected between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and finally more consistent rainfall and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Conditions are stated to be windy, with south winds ranging from 7 to 13 mph and gusts potentially reaching 22 mph. "Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible," the report notes, indicating a likely soggy stretch.
As the week progresses, Thursday should bring a respite of sunshine early on before there's another "chance of showers after 2 p.m." The winds are anticipated to pick up, coming from the west at 9 to 14 mph, and gusts could ascend as high as 24 mph. The weather roller coaster continues into the evening with potential for brief showers before 8 p.m. under partly cloudy skies.
Looking ahead to the weekend, forecasters predict that the high temperatures will hover in the mid-70s with largely sunny conditions, despite a lurking "chance of showers" that lingers into the early days of next week. Detroiters can expect a partly cloudy Saturday night with lows around 58, while Sunday and Sunday night again show a pattern of sunny daytime conditions marred by the potential for showers in the evening.
The forecast, updated at 4:24 a.m. EDT today, indicates that these conditions will be prevalent for roughly a six-mile radius around Hamtramck, Michigan, an enclave within Detroit's metropolitan jurisdiction. While the week may end on a slightly unsettled note, by Monday, the forecast calls for a return to "mostly sunny" weather and temperatures in the upper 70s.
