Detroit is starting today with clear skies and temperatures around 59 degrees, but the easygoing weather will not last all week. Sunshine should carry the city into a mostly dry afternoon near 83 degrees, giving outdoor plans one more clean shot before showers, thunderstorms and heavier humidity move back in.
The National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac expects south-southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph Saturday and no daytime rain. No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the city, although the forecast has become more unsettled than the earlier outlook covered in Hoodline.
Saturday Is Detroit's Best Outdoor Bet
Temperatures should climb through the 60s and 70s during the morning before reaching the low 80s in the afternoon. Clouds will increase later in the day, but tonight is expected to stay mostly dry, with mostly cloudy skies and a low near 68 degrees.
Sunday Brings The First Weather Complication
Tomorrow brings a 30% chance of showers, mainly between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., along with a high near 85 degrees and gusts up to 18 mph. The weather service says clouds and storm activity could limit warming, meaning parts of southeast Michigan may stay in the 70s or low 80s if rain becomes widespread.
Showers and thunderstorms become more likely tomorrow night, when the chance rises to 50%, and temperatures settle near 70. Next Monday could start with a few showers or storms before turning partly sunny and reaching about 88 degrees.
Low-90s Heat Builds Tuesday And Wednesday
The bigger shift arrives next Tuesday and Wednesday, when highs are forecast near 92 degrees, and humidity builds across Detroit. Storm chances remain in the picture both days, with another chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night.
The National Weather Service discussion warns that repeated storms early in the week could create localized flooding where downpours repeatedly track over the same areas. Next Thursday looks cooler near 86 degrees but still carries shower and thunderstorm chances, while next Friday should be mostly sunny near 84.
