Last Friday night, a vehicle veered off course and plowed into a West Side home, sparking a police investigation that led to an unexpected twist. The San Antonio Police Department was called to the 2000 block of Springvale Drive, close to Lackland Air Force Base, just past 10:30 p.m., responding to a report of a car crash, Express News reported.
Initially, officers were under the impression that the driver had abandoned the vehicle, fleeing the scene and leaving a purported passenger injured inside. However, details soon unfurled, unraveling a different story. It was discovered that the injured individual at the scene, once believed to be the passenger, was in fact the driver of the crashed car. As authorities continued their investigation, they ascertained that there were no other occupants in the vehicle, according to a preliminary report obtained by Express News.
The driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was subjected to an evaluation and subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated. FOX San Antonio reports that the incident took place late in the evening, around 11:40 p.m. The car, after colliding into the residence, drew a swift response from law enforcement.
Thankfully, in what can be considered a fortunate turn amidst the grim events, police confirmed that nobody inside the home sustained injuries due to the impact. The facade of the domiciliary peace might have been shattered that night, but not the physical wellbeing of its inhabitants. The driver, now in custody is facing charges for their actions behind the wheel, as the San Antonio community processes yet another peril of reckless driving.
