An elderly person was tragically found dead following a house fire on Monday in West Long Beach, as fire crews and emergency personnel responded to a report of a blaze that engulfed a home on the 2400 block of Fashion Avenue. The inferno, reported at about 7:30 p.m., produced a thick column of smoke visible in the evening sky, with crews managing to extinguish the flames shortly after their arrival, as reported by LB Post.
According to Long Beach Fire Department Captain Jack Crabtree, only after the fire was put out, the first responders found the deceased inside the home. He said, "Crews doused the flames within 10 minutes." No other injuries were associated with the incident, and the deceased person's identity was not disclosed pending further investigation, as per LB Post.
Fire investigators, trying to piece together the cause of the blaze, descended upon the site on Monday night, their findings still forthcoming, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
