Early morning at the Greyhound Bus Station in Memphis was disrupted when a report of a possible abduction led to police intervention. The matter, however, might not have been as ominous as initially feared. Officers arrived at the station on Airways Boulevard around 5:45 A.M. Tuesday, responding to a distressing call, as first on-the-scene information from Local Memphis detailed. The police managed to locate the individual in question, fortunately unharmed.
Greyhound swiftly disputed the grim narrative, explaining that a passenger, having disembarked from one of their buses, was simply confronted with an unwelcome proposition for further travel. "A passenger who had exited the bus at the bus station was approached by an individual who offered them a ride in their vehicle" the company affirmed in a statement that WREG Memphis reported, the passenger declined, choosing instead to place their trust in the station's internal protocols for safety by alerting security personnel.
Despite initial apprehensions, Greyhound sought to assure the public and its patrons that danger had not befallen their grounds, their cooperation with law enforcement was instigated as a maximal precaution to safeguard all within their care; they said, "The safety and comfort of all of our passengers and employees is and will continue to be our top priority," according to a statement obtained by Action News 5. The company, reasserting this commitment, likely aims to prevent any potential stain on its reputation as a haven for travelers.
