Oregon State Police identified the individuals involved as Portland residents—Jose Tamayo, 51, who was behind the wheel of the Chevy 1500 pickup, and Rosa Perez, 49, who was discovered deceased at the crash site, according to KOIN.
The incident, which unfolded off Hwy 2214 near milepost 16, prompted a police response at approximately 2:45 p.m., and although the full circumstances are still unraveling early investigations are pointing towards impairment as a potential catalyst Oregon State Police suggest reasons for the vehicle's departure from the road remain under thorough examination. Commuters experienced significant delays, with Highway 224 traffic being held up for approximately four and a half hours while the scene was managed by emergency crews, as mentioned by KPTV.
