Dallas Police are currently investigating a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman early in the morning on June 7. The tragic event occurred in the 2800 block of W. Northwest Highway, where a woman and a man were struck while crossing the street, not at a crosswalk. According to the Dallas Police Department, the pair had just reached the median when a white Dodge Challenger, traveling eastward on Northwest Highway, collided with the woman.
The man accompanying her was unharmed, but the woman succumbed to her injuries on the scene. The driver of the Challenger failed to stop, and as of now remains unidentified, as well as the vehicle had no license plates. Authorities are working to confirm the woman's identity through the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office. The police urge anyone with information related to the crash to come forward. Individuals can contact Vehicle Crimes Detective Jason Massey at 214-671-0012 or via email at [email protected].
Detective Massey and his team are handling the ongoing investigation under case numbers 87891-2024 & 87892-2024. The Dallas Police Department has not released additional details about the suspect or the circumstances leading to the incident, and they continue to seek any witnesses or individuals with pertinent information that could aid in the investigation and the eventual capture of the suspect.
As the community reels from this sudden loss, the authorities emphasize the importance of pedestrian safety and the dire consequences that can ensue from hit-and-run incidents. With an increase in pedestrian traffic in urban areas, both drivers and pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution and remain vigilant, especially during the late-night hours when visibility is low, and roads are less frequented.
