The City of Fort Worth has announced Brian Daugherty as the new Code Compliance director, a move that comes after his 17-year tenure with the City of Arlington. Daugherty, an Arlington Code Compliance director since 2019, brings a history of community-focused initiatives and a proven track record of innovative leadership to the role.
Assistant City Manager Valerie Washington expressed optimism about the future of Fort Worth's collaboration with Daugherty. She said, "We are looking forward to working with Brian to help the City of Fort Worth continue to grow and build equitable, thriving, and creative communities." Washington also emphasized the reliance on Daugherty's "knowledge, experience, and innovation to assist the residents of Fort Worth as we take Code Compliance services to the next level," according to the City of Fort Worth.
During his time in Arlington, Daugherty was known for spearheading several successful programs, including the introduction of a short-term rental ordinance, the establishment of the Neighborhood Enhancement Team, and the creation of a mobile tool-sharing program tailored to assist residents. These initiatives reflect Daugherty's commitment to code compliance as a cornerstone for community development and enhancement.
His achievements in the field have been recognized with the International Code Council Community Service Award for 2022, affirming the value of his contributions to the community through diligent code enforcement and program development. Daugherty, a long-term resident of Fort Worth for 20 years, will bring this wealth of experience back home when he begins his new position on June 24, as reported by the City of Fort Worth.
Alongside his practical experience, Daugherty also holds an academic background in organizational management from Mercy College and is a member of the International City Managers Association.
