Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker is charting a course to directly empower the young women of her city by taking a seat on the inaugural Girls Inc. Advisory Committee. The committee, formed by influential local leaders, focuses on uplifting girls throughout Tarrant County with Parker and others at the helm. According to the City of Fort Worth, Parker expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, "Fort Worth is full of bright, capable young women, and when we come together to invest in their futures, their potential is limitless. I am glad to join in Girls Inc. of Tarrant County’s work to champion our girls and help put them on paths to successful futures".
The committee aims to create an environment ripe for the development and success of young women. Mayor Jim Ross of Arlington, Commissioner Roy C. Brooks, and former Mayor Betsy Price join Parker, alongside other local dignitaries and professionals, to ally prominently in the cause. Girls Inc. of Tarrant County has been working to positively shape the lives of girls by equipping them with the necessary tools and opportunities to succeed, and now with the additional leadership, they seek to significantly boost their impact in the community.
The members of the inaugural advisory committee present a gathering of experienced leaders from diverse sectors. These include Marianne Auld from Kelly Hart & Hallman, LLP, Rose Bradshaw of North Texas Community Foundation, and Jordan Stimpson of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, among many others. According to the City of Fort Worth, each member brings to the table a commitment to uniting stakeholders all aimed at supporting the holistic growth of girls in the area.
The formation of the advisory committee is a step towards consolidating efforts and resources to promote female youth empowerment. By combining the business acumen of figures such as Monique Winfree from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. with the educational insights of Dr. Dionel Waters from IDEA Public Schools, the committee hopes to quickly forge strong pathways for the girls they serve. This multifaceted team, by harnessing a broad range of expertise, positions itself to tackle the nuanced challenges girls face and to unfold a lasting foundation for their futures.
