Greg Abbott of Texas took a grand tour of the state's newest weapon against unchecked border crossings – a sprawling Forward Operating Base in Eagle Pass aimed at housing the first wave of National Guard troops under Operation Lone Star. The Governor's visit to this strategic hub, which will accommodate soldiers working to stymie the chaos at the border, underscores his commitment to Texas' homeland security.
The new base, now home to 300 Texas National Guard members, represents a consolidation of efforts and resources as personnel previously scattered across the region move in. Operation Lone Star, a direct response to President Joe Biden's immigration policies, is hailed by Abbott as an operational success. Alongside Governor Abbott during his tour were Major General Thomas Suelzer, the Adjutant General of Texas, and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.
