
Houston authorities are looking into a deadly incident that occurred late on Sunday night when a man lost his life in a vehicle accident along Gessner Road, reports indicate. The Houston Police Department responded to a distress call around 10 p.m. concerning a white Dodge 1500 pickup that had flipped over at the 5700 block of Gessner Road.
The man driving the truck, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was reportedly traveling at a high speed before he lost control, hit the median and then the vehicle overturned several times, eventually coming to rest in the southbound lane, as City of Houston News reported. According to the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer R. Young, the impact of the crash resulted in the driver being ejected from the truck and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 44-year-old female passenger was also present during the incident and has been taken to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition. No other vehicles were involved. The investigation into what led to this fatal crash is still ongoing, with the HPD working diligently to piece together the sequence of events. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will identify the deceased male. There have been no updates on the condition of the hospitalized passenger.
